  Calling all contractors, landscapers, and interior, architectural, and stage set designers! This workshop will provide you the skills to develop your design idea of a buildable project and then transfer your idea to a blueprint showing site plans, elevations, and sections. The course will discuss the basic tools needed, how to use them, and how to properly scale down measurements. Students will design a project of their own using drafting vellum paper, which can be reproduced and printed. Bring pencils (#2 or #F), soft eraser, right-angle triangles (any size), a T-square (any size), and an architectural ruler. Additional supplies will be needed depending upon your project. Note: Please confirm status of class before purchasing supplies. $25 materials fee (for handouts and basic drafting supplies) payable in class.

  The iconic still life composition is the focus of this class. Students draw their still life in charcoal while exploring the fundamentals of drawing including seeing proportions, shapes, and values. After working out the drawing, students will paint their still life in oil while next learning paint mixing, paint application, and how to use a working procedure to paint in a representational manner.   Mindfulness is the key to both personal and professional success. However, we live in a hurry-up culture. We forget how to slow down, forget how to enjoy our environment, we just continue to stress. Join us as we walk the path of the ancient scholars while learning about their lifestyles and their daily practice of 4 rituals/arts and 4 skills. Together we will create a diversity of cultural learning experiences using a present day approach to become more aware of how nature impacts our minds and inspirations. There will be hands-on activities with traditional Chinese floral art arranging, calligraphy practice, and incense burning. A tea ceremony will be introduced. This half day retreat will help you develop new habits and find your own joyful living navigator. $20 materials fee payable in class.
