Retirement

Did you know that your "estate" consists of everything of value: cash, clothes, cars, real estate, investments, retirement accounts, and pensions accumulated throughout your lifetime? Join us for this informative and interactive class to learn how to preserve and manage your assets while you still can, and then transfer them to your loved ones after you pass away. This process involves weighing various personal and financial decisions and creating legal arrangements to carry out those decisions. We will discuss how to properly receive an inheritance as well as how to give one, strategies to avoid expensive delays and legal challenges, and intelligent distribution of assets, and charitable giving. Wills, trusts, asset protection, probate and family businesses also will be discussed.

Making the right decision at this stage in life depends upon a multitude of factors including income, assets, health status, life expectancy, family dynamics, and life goals. Some decisions are irreversible: Starting Social Security at age 62 can leave a lot money on the table if you live into your 90’s; Overlooking the impact of marriage, divorce, remarriage, and widowhood can severely pinch your lifetime stream of income; Failure to coordinate IRA RMDs with Social Security taxation can result in needless diminishment of income. Join us and learn how to evaluate your benefits and choices. Do not miss out - this class will not be offered again until the Spring session! $5 materials fee payable in class.
