Nixon Presidential Library, Post Office Tour
Includes Buffet Lunch at The Hacienda
This unique tour begins at the main post office in Santa Ana, the central processing facility for Orange County. Go behind the scenes to discover what happens to the mail, from arrival at the dock, to security screening and then processing by lightning-fast machines. This afternoon, enjoy an included southwestern lunch buffet at The Hacienda, an historic estate built in 1901 that was once part of an orange and avocado ranch. The whitewashed adobe and charming courtyard exhibit southwest style at its best with gardens, fountains, romantic balconies entwined with ivy, grand staircases, and antiques. After lunch we continue to the Richard Nixon Presidential Library recently reopened after undergoing a $15 million renovation. The completely new interactive museum will inspire you to take a revealing look at the life and legacy of our 37th president using new technology and interactive media. Take a docent-guided tour to visit the actual 1912 house where Nixon was born; explore new exhibits featuring more than 600 photographs and 300 artifacts including a wing dedicated to the Watergate scandal; view an exact replica of President Nixon’s Oval Office; and see wedding gowns and state dinner dresses worn by Julie, Tricia and Pat Nixon.
