Hundreds of years ago Japanese fishermen used to paint fish as a way to keep a record of their catch. This beautiful record-keeping practice led to Gyotaku Art, also known as Japanese fish printing, which uses paint and brushes to create a fish imprint on paper. Join us to learn about this exquisite and expressive art form through short lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on experience using a variety of Gyotaku fish replicas. Supplies provided include fish replicas, paper, brushes, and acrylic paint in variety of colors including metallics.
