Veneer Series

Advanced Ceramic Restoration for Prep Veneer
Instructor: Domenico Cascione

This course focuses upon the theory and laboratory techniques for fabricating traditional Prep Veneer restorations. Geller Model fabrication using traditional analogue technique, application of discreet layers of dentin, enamel translucent and transparent substrates, various porcelain build-up or sculpting techniques, porcelain contouring, extrinsic staining, corrections, and additions are covered. Discussion will include color science, shade verification, staining, and glazing procedures. Fabrication of Prep Veneers is included. Porcelain chemistry and manufacture veneer, and coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and its limitations for each material also will be addressed as will firing procedures using the porcelain furnace and inputting firing parameters into the furnace. $100 materials fee (cash only) payable in class. Max Participants: 20. Course qualifies for CEU credits.

Prerequisite: Graduate of Restorative Dental Technology program, or 1-2 years of experience in porcelain buildup, wax up.
Scheduling: To Be Determined
Fee: $700

Beginning Digital Dentistry CAD CAM
Instructor: Domenico Cascione

Introduction to the concept of digital dentistry: its applications, advantages, and limitations. Laboratory projects include using case manager EXOCAD software to set up new patient cases, importing scanned STL digital data/files into 3-D design software, and using digital design tools and icons. Emphasis is on step-by-step laboratory procedures associated with the digital design of multiple fixed single unit full crowns dental prostheses. Designing of temporary restoration of anterior units. Designing a mockup of 6 anterior units. Morphing tools, using the virtual articulator. Digital manipulation. Identifying margins on a 3-D rendering, rotation tool, path of insertion, and tooth anatomy. Designing a virtual model with removable die and solid model for occlusal/inter proximal contacts. Creating a final STL for milling and/or 3D printing procedures. Participants are expected to have a general understanding of Microsoft Windows including importing and exporting files. Max Participants: 12. Course qualifies for CEU credits.
